Facebook HCBS Community of Professionals Terms and Guidelines
We created these Group Guidelines to help our community understand the commitments and expectations for how they interact in this group. We believe that setting agreements and accountability supports the tone and intention of this community. Our HCBS Community of Professionals should feel like a place for learning, sharing, and engaging with respect. We have Guidelines so this group can be a safe and helpful container for you but it shouldn’t stop you from getting the professional connections you are looking for.
By joining this group, you are also agreeing to Alo Consultation’s general Terms and Conditions. You can find them here.
1. All posts require admin approval
We reserve the right to decline or delete posts, comments, or resources.
2. Member Disclaimer
All content and material is intended for educational and historical purposes and should never be considered medical, legal or behavioral advice. The purpose of this group is educational. Even if a post doesn’t go the way you thought it would, a lot can still be learned from it.
3. Post at your own risk
All topics are up for discussion but know that you are posting at your own risk and be open to any responses that might come your way. Accept differences gracefully. Give feedback compassionately.
4. Be thoughtful about posting and responding
We never know what someone has been through or what they are experiencing in life. Take the time to consider different perspectives before sharing yours. If you have a difference in opinion, think about how you can make your response compassionate or supportive rather than critical. Debates are welcome, but must be kept civil.
5. No deleting post or comments
If your post is not getting the response that you wanted it to get, don’t delete it. Education is labor, being challenged is difficult. When you are learning something new, it means you are stretching yourself in service to the community. Adding all conversations to our archive means that there is more educational content for people to search and learn from. This is the main reason we have a rule against deleting. Deleted posts may result in being muted or banned.
6. Privacy
Keep sensitive stories and other information you learn in this group private. This community should feel like a place where you can lean on other people. To make sure that this is the type of environment we are fostering, we ask that you limit what you share outside of the group. Please DO share resources, tips, experience and knowledge. Please DON’T share personal stories, identifying information, photos or videos of others without their consent or send random private messages without connecting first. If we find that disrespectful sharing is happening, you will be removed from the group.
7. We are inclusive
No bullying or hate speech. We center the voices of the oppressed, particularly those with disabilities. Ableist language will be challenged. Hate speech, hurtful language, or any sort of bullying communication will NOT be tolerated. Degrading comments about diagnosis, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity are also not tolerated and bullying and/or hate speech will result in muting or removal.
8. No Sales, MLM, Soliciting for jobs
No spam, irrelevant links, personal promotion or GoFundMes will be allowed in this community. This is not the space to look for employment or find employees.
9. This is a place to be curious
This is a place where you can ask questions about support, services, methods and concepts, but moderators will step in if the messages you or others are promoting are harmful.
10. Accessibility
There are many different types of people in this group and communication can be different person to person. It can be especially hard to tell what tone someone is writing with on social media. If moderators feel someone is communicating disrespectfully, we will step into the conversation.
If you are removed from this group for violating any of the Guidelines above, you will be reimbursed for that month’s membership fee and your membership will be cancelled moving forward. To be considered to rejoin, please reapply for membership through this form.
